Index Definitions
The following indices are used as benchmarks for the various mutual funds offered by Managers Investment Group. Unlike the Funds, the indices are unmanaged, are not available for investment and do not incur expenses.
Citigroup 1-Month US Treasury Bill Index
The Citigroup 1-Month T-Bill Index is a market-value-weighted index of public obligations of the U.S. Treasury with maturities of one month.
Citigroup Mortgage Index
The Citigroup Mortgage Index includes all outstanding government-sponsored fixed-rate mortgage-backed securities, weighted in proportion to their current market capitalization.
Citigroup World Government Bond Index (both Hedged and Unhedged)
The Citigroup World Government Bond Index is a market-capitalization-weighted index consisting of the government bond markets. Country eligibility is determined based on market capitalization and investability criteria. All issues have a remaining maturity of at least one year.
Dow Jones U.S. Select REIT Index
The Dow Jones U.S. Select REIT Index measures U.S. publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts.
Barclays 5-Year Municipal Bond Index
The Barclays 5-Year Municipal Bond Index is the 5-year (4-6) component of the Municipal Bond Index. It is a rules-based, market-value-weighted index engineered for the tax-exempt bond market. The Index tracks general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, insured bonds and prerefunded bonds rated Baa3/BBB- or higher by at least two of the ratings agencies: Moody's, S&P, Fitch.
Barclays 10-Year Municipal Bond Index
The Barclays 10-Year Municipal Bond Index is the 10-year (8-12) component of the Municipal Bond index. It is a rules-based, market-value-weighted index engineered for the tax-exempt bond market. The Index tracks general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, insured bonds and prerefunded bonds rated Baa3/BBB- or higher by at least two of the ratings agencies: Moody's, S&P, Fitch.
Barclays Global Aggregate Bond Index
The Barclays Global Aggregate Bond Index provides a broad-based measure of the global investment-grade fixed income markets. The three major components of this index are the U.S. Aggregate, the Pan-European Aggregate and the Asian-Pacific Aggregate Indices. The Index also includes Eurodollar and Euro-Yen corporate bonds, Canadian government, agency and corporate securities and USD investment-grade 144A securities.
Barclays U.S. Municipal Bond BAA Index
The Barclays Municipal Bond BAA Index is a rules-based, market-value-weighted index engineered for the long-term tax-exempt bond market. The Index tracks general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, insured bonds and prerefunded bonds rated Baa3/BBB- or higher by at least two of the ratings agencies: Moody's, S&P, Fitch.
Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index
The Barclays U.S. Aggregate Bond Index is an index of the U.S. investment-grade fixed-rate bond market, including both government and corporate bonds.
Barclays U.S. Corporate High Yield Bond Index
The Barclays U.S. Corporate High Yield Bond Index is a total return performance benchmark for fixed income securities having a maximum quality rating of Ba1 (as determined by Moody's Investors Service).
Barclays U.S. Government/Credit Bond Index
The Barclays U.S. Government/Credit Bond Index is an index of investment-grade government and corporate bonds with a maturity rate of more than one year.
BofA Merrill Lynch 3-Month Treasury Bill Index
The BofA Merrill Lynch 3-Month T-Bill Index is an unmanaged index that measures returns of three-month Treasury Bills.
BofA Merrill Lynch 6-Month Treasury Bill Index
The BofA Merrill Lynch 6-Month T-Bill Index is an unmanaged index that measures returns of six-month Treasury Bills.
MSCI All Country World Index
The MSCI ACWI (All Country World Index) Index is a free float-adjusted market-capitalization-weighted index that is designed to measure the equity market performance of developed and emerging markets. The MSCI ACWI consists of 45 country indices comprising 24 developed and 21 emerging-market country indices. The developed market country indices included are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. The emerging market country indices included are: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey.
MSCI All Country World ex-U.S. Small Cap Index
The MSCI All Country World Index ex-U.S. Small Cap Index covers all investable small-cap securities with a market capitalization below that of the companies in the MSCI Standard Indices (excluding USA), and targets approximately 14% of each market's free-float adjusted market capitalization.
MSCI EAFE® Index
The Morgan Stanley Capital International Europe, Australasia, and Far East (MSCI EAFE) Index is composed of all the publicly traded stocks in developed non-U.S. Markets. The MSCI EAFE Index consists of the following 22 developed market country indices: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
MSCI Emerging Markets Index
The MSCI Emerging Markets Index is a free float-adjusted market-capitalization-weighted index that is designed to measure equity market performance of emerging markets. The MSCI Emerging Markets Index consists of the following 21 emerging market country indices: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey.
MSCI World Index℠
The MSCI World Index is a free float-adjusted market-capitalization index that is designed to measure global developed market equity performance. The MSCI World Index consists of the following 24 developed market country indices: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Russell 1000® Index
The Russell 1000 Index measures the performance of approximately 1,000 of the largest securities based on a combination of their market cap and current index membership. The Russell 1000 represents approximately 92% of the U.S. market.
Russell 1000® Growth Index
The Russell 1000 Growth Index is a market-capitalization-weighted index that measures the performance of those Russell 1000 companies with higher price-to-book ratios and higher forecasted growth values.
Russell 1000® Value Index
The Russell 1000 Value is a large-cap value index measuring the performance of the largest 1,000 U.S. incorporated companies with lower price-to-book ratios and lower forcasted growth values.
Russell 2000® Index
The Russell 2000 Index is composed of the 2,000 smallest stocks in the Russell 3000® Index and is widely regarded in the industry as the premier measure of small-cap stock performance.
Russell 2000® Growth Index
The Russell 2000 Growth Index measures the performance of the Russell 2000 companies with higher price-to-book ratios and higher forecasted growth values.
Russell 2000® Value Index
The Russell 2000 Value Index is an unmanaged, market-value-weighted, value-oriented index composed of small stocks that have relatively low price-to-book ratios and lower forecasted growth values.
Russell 3000® Index
The Russell 3000 Index is composed of the 3,000 largest U.S. companies as measured by market capitalization, and represents about 98% of the U.S. stock market.
Russell 3000® Growth Index
The Russell 3000 Growth Index measures the performance of those Russell 3000 Index companies with higher price-to-book ratios and higher forecasted growth values.
Russell Microcap® Index
The Russell Microcap Index tracks the micro-cap segment of the U.S. equity market. It makes up less than 3% of the U.S. equity market and is represented by the smallest 1,000 securities in the small-cap Russell 2000 Index plus the next 1,000 securities.
Russell Midcap® Growth Index
The Russell Midcap Growth Index measures the performance of the Russell Midcap companies with higher price-to-book ratios and higher forecasted growth values. The stocks are also members of the Russell 1000 Growth Index.
Russell Midcap® Value Index
The Russell Midcap Value Index measures the performance of those Russell Midcap companies with lower price-to-book ratios and lower forecasted growth values. The stocks are also members of the Russell 1000 Value Index.
S&P 500 Index
The S&P 500 Index is capitalization-weighted index of 500 stocks. The S&P 500 Index is designed to measure performance of the broad domestic economy through changes in the aggregate market value of 500 stocks representing all major industries.
S&P MidCap 400 Index
The S&P MidCap 400 Index is the most widely used index for mid-size companies and covers approximately 7% of the U.S. equities market.
